Outsourcing and innovation 2006: a happy couple?

This report presents the latest developments on IT Outsourcing market both in Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg) and the rest of the world. The survey itself was completed by 64 decision makers in IT, both business and IT managers. Additionally, interviews were held with executives with experience in IT outsourcing to gather more qualitative information. The total number of employees of the participating companies ranged from 100 to more than 10.000. IT budgets of the participating companies ranged from less than € 50.000 to more than € 200 million. Outside the Benelux 43 executives participated, mainly originating from the rest of Europe, Asia and South America.

Key Findings:

  • IT Outsourcing has become a mature market with a strong growth in application outsourcing.
  • A more selective sourcing strategy is on the rise in the Benelux market.
  • Over 75% of the respondents still focus on cost reduction and control as their main outsourcing goal.
  • Vendors perform well on costs (50% satisfaction with the price level), but do a poor job when it comes to innovation (almost 50% underperformance).
